Cost of War In Perspective -- US Military Leaving $7 Billion Worth of Equipment in Afghanistan

US Military Hardware Being Scraped In Afghanistan Worth More Than Three Times House Republicans' Cuts to Food Stamps for Poor Americans -- $7 Billion VS $2 Billion
The Pentagon announced that "U.S. military has already destroyed more than 170 million pounds worth of vehicles and other military equipment" in Afghanistan.

2,000 MRAP Armored Vehicles Being Cut to Scrap
-- Too Costly to Ship Out Of Afghanistan --

US military cutting up 2,000 of its 11,000 MRAP vehicles (personnel carriers armored against IED explosive mines) in Afghanistan. These costly trucks served well protecting soldiers fighting there. These special vehicles were quickly designed in 2007 by Army engineers and manufactured in the US. The average cost of these trucks  and personnel transporters was $1 million each.

As the Obama Administration debates whether to get the US involved in Syria, the costs of doing so must be measured against the experience of our useless Afghanistan war which cost so many soldiers and civilian lives and waste of materiel and equipment worth $$ billions.

US Corporations Eyeing Afghanistan Riches in 2011
US involvement in more warfare in the Middle East should be a last resort after every other possible solution has been tried again and again and failed.

Military involvement in sectarian religious conflicts such as the Syrian civil war achieve nothing. The US should use every means to persuade Russia to join the rest of the world and stop stoking more hatred and killing there. It is in Russia's best interest to  persuade the fighting sides to negotiate a peaceful reconciliation.

Working for Peace and negotiation vs war and killing is a no-brainer.

War mongers in America and elsewhere should be labeled for what they are.
